Charting App V2 Manual
The Nile Rhythm » Devlog
This is the manual for using V2 of the charting app
Creating/Deleting Notes
- Creating notes
- Press one of the 4 options on the top right, then left click on the track
- You may also use the keybinds B,F,W,L or 1,2,3,4
- Press [Esc] or press the top right button again to exit create mode
- Deleting notes
- Right click one of the notes on the track
- Another option is to select a note by left clicking it, then pressing [Del]
Editing Notes
- The easiest way to edit notes is by dragging them in the track
- The [Shift] and [Ctrl] modifier keys can be held down while dragging to change the dragging behavior
- Button notes:
- Drag: moves a single button note
- Shift+drag: moves both notes in a double button notes simultaneously
- Ctrl+drag: locks the time axis
- Wheel flicks:
- Drag: moves the note. Moving left/right changes the direction
- Ctrl+drag: locks the time axis
- Wheel turns:
- Drag: moves a single vertex in the sequence
- Shift+drag: moves the entire sequence together
- Ctrl+drag: locks the time axis
- Lever notes:
- Drag: moves a single lever note
- Shift+drag: moves the entire sequence. Can change the side of the track the sequence is on
- Ctrl+drag: locks the time axis. If not holding shift, changes the lever position based on the direction of the dragging
- You may also fine-tune the properties of notes in the inspector on the right after clicking on a note
Chart Metadata
- Edit chart metadata on the panel to the left
- For the song, a compressed format such as mp3 is recommended so your final saved chart file is small
- BPM and BPM Offset change where the beats are. Note that these only move the beats and do not adjust the note positions. An update in the future will make it easier to adjust BPM and notes at the same time
- Gain adjusts the song loudness. This gain will be applied in-game
Editor Settings
- Editor settings are on the bottom panel below the playback progress bar. These settings are not saved
- Audio Offset: adjusts the song playback offset (useful if you are using bluetooth headphones that have audio delay)
- Master volume: volume of everything, including sound effects during playback
- Vertical view: adjusts how much of the chart you can see at once
- Horizontal view: adjusts how wide the track is
- Snapping: changes the time snapping when you are placing and dragging notes. Holding [Alt] will temporarily disable snapping
Saving/Loading Charts
- "Load" button: load a chart from a zip file
- "Save" button: save the current chart
- "Save As" button: save the current chart to a new file, not modifying the original file
Known Issues
